Bardsley has begun construction of a 67,000 sq ft retirement apartment complex on Alexandra Road in Southport for developer Adlington.
The £11.5m development includes 38 two-bed, nine one-bed, and eight three-bed apartments over four storeys, and is designed to cater for over 55s. The 1.4 acre site in Southport, which is currently vacant, lies around 500m from Lord Street and is near Hesketh Park.
Facilities at the development will include a residents’ lounge, hairdressers, spa suite, outdoor amenity space, and a restaurant.
Construction is due to complete in spring 2019.
Plans for the project were submitted in November 2016 and secured planning permission from Sefton Council in July 2017. It has been designed by Adlington’s in-house architect team.
Adlington is a specialist care brand owned by Gladman Care Homes. Other projects the developer is bringing forward include The Bridges in Macclesfield, and The Chimes in Cheadle, a 48-home apartment scheme, due to complete in early 2019.
