A 505-apartment Legacie scheme, designed by Falconer Chester Hall, was approved by Liverpool’s planning committee following a site visit yesterday, while the Liverpool FC plan to expand the events hosted at Anfield will be heard next week and Copperas Hill at a future date.
The committee made two scheduled site visits yesterday, to Copperas Hill and to Legacie’s Greenland Street site, decisions on both of which were deferred at committee in late August. Suggestions have now been made for revisions to the Copperas Hill project proposed by Liverpool John Moores University, but Legacie’s scheme has been given the green light.
This is an £80m proposal in the Baltic Triangle district that in addition to 505 apartments includes 12 retail and leisure units totalling more than 20,000 sq ft. It will involve the construction of four blocks of between eight and 18 storeys linked by a communal courtyard and public realm on Parliament Street and Greenland Street.
Residential access will be via the courtyard and residents will also share a communal roof terrace. The accommodation will include a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The site is in two parts with one area currently occupied by a warehouse and an enclosed yard, while the second is vacant. Both are considered brownfield having been previously developed.
FCH managing director Adam Hall said: “The proposed development reflects the surrounding context of materials within the Baltic Triangle whilst also providing an exciting opportunity to continue the regeneration of the area.”
Legacie Developments’ other schemes in Liverpool city centre include Reliance House on Water Street and Ropemaker Place on Renshaw Street. The developer has also carried out a restoration of shops on Dale Street opposite the former Municipal Buildings.
