Balfour wins £300m road contract
A joint venture between Balfour Beatty and Mott MacDonald has won the contract to operate, maintain and improve the network in the North West.
The 70:30 Balfour Beatty-led JV will begin work in November 2012 looking after 500km of motorway and trunk roads in Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and parts of Lancashire.
The Area 10 Asset Support Contract runs for five years and adds to Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald's current portfolio which includes the Area 4 contract in the South East.
Balfour Beatty and Mott MacDonald replace A One+, a joint venture between Colas, Costain and Halcrow, which held the contract for the past five years.
There is a separate contract for north Lancashire and Cumbria run by Enterprise and Mouchel.
