Awards: homes4u, Wates, Aimes

Manchester-based homes4u won a silver award in the Best Small Northern category at The Letting Agency of The Year Awards 2013. The ceremony took place at The Lancaster Hotel, London on 24 May and awards were presented to the winners by Karren Brady, star of BBC's The Apprentice and vice chairman of West Ham FC.

Wates Giving was recognised for supporting education, sustainability, community building, thought leadership, employment & training and social enterprise. The charitable trust, which donated £27,000 to Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service's £5.2m Toxteth Fire Fit Hub to fund two local apprenticeships, was named Corporate Foundation of the Year at the 2013 Business Charity Awards. The donation to Toxteth Fire Fit was secured following an application from Wates Construction, which completed building works on the new community fire station and youth sports facility last year.

Aimes Grid Services' Kilby House data centre project at Liverpool Innovation Park was recognised at the Data Centre Solutions Awards 2013 as the Private Sector Data Centre Project of the Year. The flexible 10,000 sq ft facility is the first phase of a new cloud computing campus, with the potential to increase capacity to a total of 35,000 sq ft. The project team included Todd & Ledson with quantity surveying, project management, and project monitoring advice, data centre designer Keysource, and Spring Architects.
