Asda submits plans for Swinton Shopping Centre

Asda has lodged a planning application with Salford City Council for a new supermarket on the site of Swinton Shopping Centre.

The plans involve the "partial demolition" of existing retail units, a multi-storey car park and residential units.

They will be replaced with a 72,000 sq ft supermarket and space for parking.

Asda's intentions for the site have caused concern in the area because it is close to an existing Morrisons store.

The proposed development also requires the demolition of some 10 homes on Chadwick Walk.

GVA in Manchester is the agent for the scheme. It is currently managing the centre as LPA receiver after the failure of its owner left it in the hands of lender, the West Bromwich Building Society.

All well and good but when you are digging up a WW1 Soldier who died of Gas poisioning in the trenches who is buried with his family at the site, do you Agree ASDA should dig them all up for Money?

After exhuming over 300 bodies and re-burying them elsewhere I hope that Asda at Swinton make the least profit of any of their stores. They are a disgrace. Lets hope Karma soon shows its face.
