Arena seeks architectural services for four-year framework

Social landlord Arena Housing Group has published a tender for an architectural and quantity surveying contract to form part of a framework agreement on its properties in the region.

Arena, which manages more than 14,000 homes throughout the North West, wants to establish a four-year framework to start in 2010, covering construction projects in the North West and Yorkshire.

Up to six contractors will work on schemes which will involve building:

  • New build – general needs housing
  • Affordable family accommodation
  • Homes for people with special needs
  • Refurbishment of properties for general needs housing
  • Retirement villages

The total estimated value over the framework period could be £60m. A maximum of 20 firms will be invited to tender for the construction contract, which will run from July 2010.

A maximum of three architect firms will form part of the framework agreement as well as three quantity surveying services.

Arena and other contracting authorities will award a number of contracts, ranging between £1m and £6m, during the four-year framework agreement period to support individual construction projects.

Deadline for submitting tenders is Tuesday 8 December, with a shortlist expected in January next year.

Arena Housing Group was formed in October 2006, and incorporates Arena Homes, Arena Options, Leasowe Community Homes, Tung Sing Housing Association, Headrow Housing and Arena Future.

In July this year, Arena Housing Group announced its maintenance and refurbishment contractors for the next three years.

Arena appointed two local companies in a combined contract worth £12m, with the option of a further £4m in year four.

Existing supplier, TF Jones Property Services from St Helens, was joined by new contractor, Salford-based DLP Services (Northern).
