Approval for Galgate homes

The construction of 71 family homes in Galgate has been approved by Lancaster City Council.

The development in Stoney Lane will see a mix of two bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses built by Story Homes. Up to 40% will be affordable and designated for local people.

The site will also include a public open space and play area.

Story Homes submitted the planning application in February following a public consultation, where members of the public had the opportunity to find out more about the plans and make suggestions and comments. The house builder was advised on planning for the development by Manchester based Barton Willmore.

David Hayward, development planner for Story Homes, said: “We welcome the council’s decision to grant permission for our proposals to build 71 new homes in Galgate.

“Story Homes already has a proven track record for delivering successful communities, including High Wood, the new build element of the Lancaster Moor Hospital project. We look forward to working in Galgate and bringing more of our high quality homes to the Lancaster area in the very near future.”

Story Homes is a Carlisle-based family business with more than 27 years of experience in developing land and communities, particularly in Cumbria, the North East and Lancashire.
