Approval for Bamber Bridge retail

Preston-based property company, Roundhouse Properties, has secured planning consent to build 72,000 sq ft of non-food retail site south of the city centre.

The retail scheme will be situated near Roundhouse's office developments South Preston and South Rings Office Villages. Both are located next to the M6, M61 and M65 interchange at Bamber Bridge. Work on the retail element, on a 3.7-acre brownfield plot, is expected to start in the second half of 2012.

Nick Kos, director of Bailey Deakin & Hamilton, who acquired the site on behalf of Roundhouse Properties, said. "This is fantastic news and we can now look to present the retail development to interested parties. The location is a very popular area for businesses and with the expansion of Sainsbury's, this proposed development will add to the retail and leisure offer."

Lawrence Earnshaw, of CBRE, and Andrew Hynes, of Hynes & Co, are the joint retail letting agents for the scheme.
