Approval for abandoned warehouse demolition

Amstone Residential has been granted planning permission to demolish a three-storey former factory in Longsight, to make way for a seven-storey residential scheme totalling 96 homes.

Advised by Avison Young, Amstone is set to build the Leach Rhodes Walker-designed project on Stockport Road, which will be a mixture of seven townhouses and 89 apartments.

Plans for the site include cycle parking and electric vehicle charging points for residents, and public realm with planting of trees, landscaping and vegetation. There will also be a roof terrace on the sixth floor.

The scheme will provide financial contributions towards the provision of affordable housing and improved facilities at Coverdale and Newbank Community Centre.

Mark Murphy from Avison Young, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning approval for the scheme, which will provide more much needed homes in the Longsight area.

“The redevelopment of the currently vacant site will dramatically improve the street scene on Stockport Road through a high quality residential scheme, of a contemporary design, being constructed which will successfully integrate within its surrounding environment. The residential use of the site will also compliment the wider regeneration activities occurring within the locality”.
