Appeal against Stobart airport plans due in court

Carlisle farmer Gordon Brown was due to have his appeal for a judicial review into the city council's decision to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of the local airport heard today at the High Court in London.

Brown owns Lane End Farm opposite the Crosby-on-Eden airfield and has already had one appeal thrown out by a judge sitting in Newcastle in July.

Stobart plans a new head office and distribution centre plus alongside a new terminal.

Plans for the £25m scheme were approved in December. Brown says the plans should have been referred to the Government Office for the North West as a departure from planning policy.
