Anglesey pub to get £2m facelift

Work has started on a £2m renovation of the Sandy Mount in Rhosneigr, Anglesey, which will transform the former pub into a 100-cover restaurant, bar, and hotel.

Supported by £260,000 of funding from the Welsh Government’s Rural Development Programme, the former Sandy Mount pub in the centre of the town will be extensively overhauled by its new owners, Bowdon-based Louise and Philip Goodwin.

Designed by Wilde Architects, the plans include a reconfiguration of the building’s interior and an extensive upgrade to the building’s facades and outdoor areas.

Preston-based contractor Parkinson & Hartley have started strip-out of the existing building as part of a 40-week build programme, and the venue is planned to open in early 2019.

As well as the restaurant and bar, the upgraded building will include seven rooms. One Call Management have been instructed to manage the hotel and restaurant’s operation.

It is the latest hospitality project to get underway on the island this year, after developer Conygar and contractor Triton started work to build Anglesey’s first Premier Inn at Parc Cybi, Holyhead.

The 80-bed hotel will be delivered over a 42-week period after securing planning permission in November last year.
