Amstone PRS towers approved

Salford City Council has granted planning permission for a five-block residential development on the site of a former multiplex cinema at Clippers Quay.

The scheme by Amstone Developments on the 4-acre plot will total 614 apartments and include 17,000 sq ft of flexible commercial space. Start on site is expected in the spring.

The flats will be available for the private rented sector and will include concierge services, residents' social activities and a car club facility.

Public realm space has been incorporated into the scheme, similar in size to Manchester's St Ann's Square, with a green avenue running through the site.

The development includes the construction of a footbridge that will land at the Wharfside tram stop. The new tram line will be a direct link to Trafford Park and the Trafford Centre.

Amstone purchased the site from Ask Developments in July.

Deloitte is advising on planning and the architect on the project is Leach Rhodes Walker.
