Altrincham Metrolink service suspended

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive has said services on the Altrincham Metrolink line will be suspended to allow engineering work to take place.

GMPTE said no trams will run on the Altrincham line from 10pm on Saturday 9 October until the start of service on Monday 11 October and all day on Sunday 17 October.

The work will allow track connections from the Altrincham line to the new South Manchester line to Chorlton to be carried out, as part of the expansion of the Metrolink network.

During the work, a replacement bus service will run from Altrincham to Piccadilly, calling at all stops to Deansgate-Castlefield and then non-stop to Piccadilly railway station.

Passengers will need valid Metrolink tickets, available from vending machines at stops, to use the replacement bus service.

Services on the Eccles and Bury lines will not be affected.
