Alliance poaches Clarke from Tesco

Trafford-based developer and investor, Property Alliance Group, has recruited former Tesco executive John Clarke as director to lead its retail and leisure development opportunities in the North West.

John ClarkeThe news follows the announcement earlier this week that Adam Higgins, director, is to leave Alliance to set up his own development business.

Clarke will concentrate on the foodstore and budget hotel sectors. Over the past ten years he set up and managed Tesco's new regional site acquisitions office in Manchester.

Clarke previously worked for Whitbread and Premier Inn and was a non-executive advisor to Midas, the inward investment agency for Greater Manchester.

David Russell, chairman of Property Alliance Group, said: "We believe John's expertise and experience in foodstore and hotel development complements our asset management and market knowledge, and together with our long-standing relationships and partnerships with financial institutions, we are confident we have the team strength and capability to step up our activity in the regional development landscape."

Clarke added: "Having already formed a close working relationship with Property Alliance Group during my career in the North West, we understand the value and expertise each other can bring together to ensure ongoing developments are a success. I look forward to my new challenge to grow this area of the business and seek further major development projects."
