Aldi appoints Manchester architects for NW food stores

Manchester-based architects The Harris Partnership has secured a number of projects in the region from food store chain Aldi.

The commissions include new builds in Bootle and Old Swan in Liverpool, Ramsbottom in Bury, West Kirby in Wirral, and Heywood in Lancashire, with several extensions to existing outlets and refurbishments of stores acquired from other food retailers.

Plans have also been submitted for a further seven stores including Knutsford and Great Harwood in Blackburn.

The Harris Partnership will oversee in excess of 20 Aldi store design projects this year from its four offices, which include Wakefield, Reading and Milton Keynes.

The practice also has other contracts forecast beyond 2010.
