Agents appointed on Cheshire centre

Property fund Eskmuir has appointed London-based Briant Champion Long as joint leasing agents on the Grosvenor Shopping Centre in Macclesfield following its acquisition.

The 88,000 sq ft shopping centre was sold by AXA Real Estate on behalf of Friends Life Company in July for £20.86m. The centre's tenants include Boots, Argos, Fat Face, Vodafone, Card Factory and Clarks.

Simon Carr of Briant Champion Long said: "Our aim is to work with existing tenants and to also attract new retailers in order to enhance the centre's role as the retail heart of the town. The scheme already delivers strong footfall and we will be looking to build on that."

Eskmuir Properties is a commercial property investment and asset management company, owned by the Laing Family Trusts. It invests in retail, office and industrial assets, and currently has more than 1.5m sq ft under ownership.

BCL is currently instructed as leasing agent on more than 3.5m sq ft of shopping centre space throughout the UK. It will act jointly on the Grosvenor Shopping Centre with Colliers International, which advised Eskmuir on the acquisition in the summer.
