Agent joins Colliers to market Arndale Centre
Property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co has been appointed as joint letting agent for the Arndale Centre in Morecambe town centre.
The Preston-based company replaces Mason & Partners and will work alongside Colliers International.
The appointment follows JAP Morecambe, owners of the shopping centre, gaining planning approval in June for an extension to the site for a mixed-use development comprising 8,180 sq ft of new retail space and a 14,078 sq ft Travelodge hotel.
Construction of the extension and new hotel is expected to start in a couple of weeks and is due to complete by spring 2011. The existing shopping centre is 107,000 sq ft in total.
Robert Pinkus & Co will be marketing the new retail units, which front onto Euston Road, and any vacant units available in the shopping centre.
Claire Eccleston, retail surveyor at Robert Pinkus & Co, said: "The extension will create much needed space at the centre and we are looking forward to finding suitable high quality retailers that will improve choice and people's overall shopping experience in Morecambe.
"Morecambe is experiencing something of a revival since the redevelopment of the iconic art deco Midland Hotel and there is renewed interest in the town's regeneration prospects from both businesses and private investors alike. Exciting proposals to improve both the central promenade and the multi-million pound redevelopment of Morecambe's West End both promise to breath new life into the town and in turn are attracting more visitors and new residents to the area.
"The opportunities on offer at the Arndale shopping centre propose an ideal chance to be a part of the new renaissance that Morecambe is experiencing, right at the heart of the town's retail core."
A Tesco Express, Boots, New Look and Argos are amongst the independent shops occupying units at the Arndale shopping centre.
The centre is located amongst three of Morecambe's car-parking areas, totalling 300 spaces, and the entrances to the shopping centre directly link to Market Street and the pedestrianised Euston Road.
