Aerials show Middlewood Locks progress
New images have been released detailing progress at Middlewood Locks, the 24.5-acre Salford scheme being delivered by Beijing Construction & Engineering Group for Fairbriar International.
Phase one of the scheme, now on-site with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2018, includes 571 homes across three blocks, with associated retail and leisure.
The second phase, featuring 546 homes, will start within the coming months with completion set for September 2019.
Further elements of the scheme will include a waterfront park and 900,000 sq ft of commercial space including offices, a hotel, cinema, nursery and medical centre. The site sits within Salford, around three large basins of the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal.
Whittam Cox is the lead architect for Middlewood Locks. The firm’s regional director Ian Lowson said: “As can be seen from the aerial photographs BCEGI and the design team are making real progress against an extremely challenging programme.
“This together with the fact that Middlewood Locks is one of BCEGI’s first UK construction projects makes their achievements to date even more impressive. Phase two will be following shortly and we look forward to working closely with BCEGI to continue the good work.”

We’ve recently held a careers day at the Oasis Academy at MediaCityUK taking young people through all the different stages a development like Middlewood has to go through to be built – to highlight all the different kinds of job and career opportunities construction provides.”
Fairbriar International, the developer behind Middlewood Locks, is a joint venture including Svarborough International Properties, Singapore-based Metro Holdings and private Chinese property group Hualing.
