Administrators called in to Pie & Ale and Bakerie

RWBLeisure, the company which operated Northern Quarter favourites Pie & Ale and Bakerie, has been placed into administration; the two restaurants have ceased trading and the employees made redundant.

On Friday 9 March 2018, RWBLeisure Ltd was placed into administration and Rob Adamson and Mark Ranson, insolvency oractitioners at Armstrong Watson, were appointed as joint administrators.

The company operated Pie & Ale and Bakerie from units 47-51 Lever Street and 43-45 Lever Street respectively. Pie & Ale was founded in 2011, and sister restaurant Bakerie opened in 2013.

Adamson of Armstrong Watson said: “Immediately prior to our appointment, but in conjunction with ourselves, the directors made the difficult decision that the company should cease trading due to its ongoing financial obligations. Regrettably this has resulted in the redundancy of all 33 employees. My staff met with the employees to advise them of the position. An employment specialist also attended the company’s premises to assist staff in preparing their claims to the Redundancy Payments Service. It is early in the administration process to comment on any likely payment to creditors which will depend on the realisable value of the company assets and the extent of its liabilities. The assets, consisting of both fully furnished leasehold premises, are to be marketed for sale by Sanderson Weatherall LLP.”
