Administrators appointed to two Beetham Hotels
KPMG has been appointed administrator to Beetham Hotels Liverpool Limited and Beetham Hotels Manchester Limited.
Both businesses operate hotels through management agreements with Radisson in Liverpool and Hilton Worldwide in Manchester. Both hotels continue to trade as normal and no redundancies have been made.
Brian Green, head of restructuring for KPMG in the North West, commented: "We would like to reassure customers that it is business as usual at both hotels: existing bookings are secure and we continue to take bookings. Both hotels are popular and well-known for both business and leisure travel, operating out of iconic buildings in Liverpool and Manchester. We are confident of securing a sale in the near future. Both Hilton Worldwide and Radisson are continuing to manage the day to day operations at the hotels, with our support."
The last accounts filed for Beetham Hotels Liverpool show a £5.4m loss for the year to 30 September 2008 on turnover of £7.4m. Beetham Hotels Manchester also made a loss, of £1.7m, on sales of £16.4m in the same year.
Beetham Hotels Liverpool and Beetham Hotels Manchester have long leasehold agreements and the appointment of administrators is over the hotel companies only, not the rest of the buildings.
Approximately 340 staff are employed at the Hilton in Manchester and around 80 staff are employed at the Radisson in Liverpool.
The West Tower built by Beetham in Liverpool was placed into administration earlier this month.
