ABW hands over Edge Hill project

The £14m Hub building designed by ABW Architects at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, west Lancashire has been completed.

The 50,000 sq ft building contains retail, dining and student services areas. The BREEAM 'excellent' facility uses a solar-powered hot water supply, LED lighting and high levels of insulation.

Simon Almond, director and co-founder of ABW, based in Liverpool, said: "The Hub is our most recent project in the higher education sector, and we are thrilled to see it being enjoyed by students."

ANW was founded in 2008 and now has eight staff. This is its largest project to date. Almond added: "As a practice, we place a strong emphasis on teamwork and going beyond the call of duty. We believe this approach will hold us in good stead in the future as we look to build on our success over the past three years."
