£56m loan fund for affordable homes

More than 3,000 new affordable homes could be built across the North West using a £56m loan fund for the region from the Homes & Communities Agency.

Part of a £220m national scheme, the money is available to help registered home providers build new properties for purchase and rental.

The full list of successful applicants for funding in the North West is:

  • Great Places Housing Association
  • Home Group
  • Isos Housing
  • Knowsley Housing Trust
  • Liverpool Mutual Homes
  • New Charter Housing Trust
  • Riverside Housing Association
  • The Guinness Trust
  • Together Housing Group
  • Wirral Partnership Home
  • Wulvern Housing

Applications include a number of £1m-plus projects across the North West, including a £1.2m Adactus Housing Association scheme for 51 houses in New Hall Lane, Preston; a £1.18m Great Places Housing Association scheme to build 54 houses in Rossendale; and Liverpool Mutual's £1.6m scheme to build 80 houses at Marwood Towers.

Manchester City Council worked in partnership with a number of the city's housing providers to identify sites across the city suitable for housing development.

In Manchester, building programmes will deliver 143 affordable rental properties and 38 shared ownership properties across the city.
