New real estate partner for Glaisyers

The Manchester-based law firm has promoted Mick Hewitt to the role of partner in its property department as part of a raft of promotions.

Hewitt, who has worked in the UK, China, the US and Spain during his career, joined Glaisyers last January as legal director having previously worked with law firms DWF and Weightmans.

He specialises in complex commercial property acquisitions, disposals, leases, funding, renewable energy projects, corporate support and residential developments.

Hewitt’s promotion brings the total number of partners in Glaisyers’ property practice to five.

The firm, whose head office is at 1 St James’s Square in Manchester, employs a total of 15 fee earners across its commercial property and residential property departments.

Hewitt’s promotion was one of seven made by the firm. Among the other fee earners to be promoted was Sam Gill, who has become a senior associate in the firm’s residential conveyancing practice.

David Marlor, equity partner and head of property at Glaisyers, said, “Mick and Sam’s promotions were part of a round that we had decided on a couple of months ago. A lot has changed in the interim but we felt that Covid-19 shouldn’t affect our colleagues receiving the recognition they deserve.

“We invested heavily in new technology about six months ago which means our team are able to work the same way now as if they were still in the office.”
