New Century Hall plans move forward at NOMA

An application has been submitted regarding the conversion of ground floor space at New Century Hall and House within Manchester’s NOMA estate into restaurants.

As part of the NOMA public realm proposals, consent was granted in 2014 for internal and external alterations to create a new pedestrian connection between Sadlers Yard and Miller Street, along with associated works to the ground floor of New Century Hall and House, which would be used for either retail or restaurants.

Deloitte, on behalf of NOMA, has now informed Manchester City Council of minor material amendments required in the building, namely a new service riser. The Leach Rhodes Walker drawings attached to the application include four restaurant units – one of 818 sq ft within New Century House, the others of just over 3,000 sq ft each. These three units are to have new entrances fronting onto the Sadlers Yard side of the building.

The application’s covering letter requests the addition of a further condition that will allow the phasing of development, stating that “prior to the commencement of the servicing infrastructure and the rear elevational treatment” final details should be submitted to and agreed by the council.

NOMA is being developed by a joint venture between Co-operative Group and Hermes Investment Management.
