Nantwich asset for sale following Christian departure
Legat Owen and Cheshire Lamont have been jointly instructed to market 1-5 Pillory Street in Nantwich, one of the Cheshire town’s most prominent buildings.
Available on a freehold basis, the building comprises retail units at ground floor, both occupied by Pockets Menswear, with offices above. The upper three floors, comprising 5,334 sq ft in total, were previously the headquarters of the building’s owner, Clive Christian Interiors, until the company rationalised its operations into Mayfair earlier this year.
Working to a re-design by Bower Edleston Architects – 100 years after the same firm originally designed the building – the now vacant space was granted planning permission for three apartments in February 2016, although a new consent would be required for change of use to a restaurant. The guide price is £500,000.
Andy Butler, director of Legat Owen, said: “Due to the company’s expansion, Clive Christian has taken the decision to relocate its UK offices to London. This has created a rare opportunity for someone to acquire the freehold of this iconic building and occupy the office accommodation or convert the space into three residential or other uses on the upper floors.”
