M&Y moves into housebuilding
A St Helens-based housing repairs company has announced its plans to expand into construction and is targeting an increase in turnover to £35m over the next three years.
M&Y Maintenance & Construction said it plans to start building new homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale by 2017.
The firm provides responsive repairs for its parent company, the Regenda Group.
M&Y would initially build homes for Regenda, but could expand into constructing homes for other registered providers.
M&Y is also working with new clients such as schools and private property developers as it moves into construction.
Tony Smith, who joined from Forrest as commercial director in February, said: “What used to be a small, family-run firm has already gone through an incredible transformation over the past year or so. As our expansion continues part of my role will be to ensure the growth is controlled and managed, with an understanding of the risks.”
M&Y was founded in 1980 and employs 250 staff. It recently rebranded and refurbished its offices at the Bold Business Centre.
