Muse prepares City Place homes

Muse Developments is working up a reserved matters planning application for 100 apartments at its City Place scheme in Chester as it enters into negotiations with private rental sector investors.

The blocks of flats totalling 100,000 sq ft will be situated on the site of the current Lloyds car park on the south facing bank of the Shropshire Union Canal.

The project forms part of the wider £100m City Place development on a 7.5-acre site between Chester Station and the canal, including seven office buildings totalling 440,000 sq ft. One City Place, the first of the offices to be brought forward, reached the topping out stage earlier this month.

A new hotel is also planned for the area, along with restaurants and leisure facilities.

Phil Mayall, development director at Muse, said: “We have always planned to include a residential element to City Place so we are very pleased to be in the process of working up the plans for the council’s consideration. We have already received a number of unsolicited approaches from private rental sector investors to acquire the residential scheme, so we are very optimistic about the future of the project.”
