Mulbury hires Bardsley for Northern Quarter PRS

Tameside contractor Bardsley Construction has been appointed by developer Mulbury to deliver a £27.6m private rented sector apartment scheme in Manchester.

The scheme, at the junction of Port Street and Great Ancoats Street, will comprise 135 apartments, with communal rooftop gardens and 6,000 sq ft of commercial space at ground floor. Varying in height between eight and 14 storeys, it has been designed by Manchester-based Tim Groom Architects and is being funded by M&G Real Estate.

Bardsley is due to start onsite in November, with completion and occupation of apartments expected in summer 2018.

Ged Rooney, procurement director at Bardsley Construction, said: “Our hard-earned reputation for successfully delivering high quality residential developments such as Port Street on time and on budget in locations throughout the north of England is reflected in this prestigious appointment by Mulbury.”

James Alderson, head of Mulbury City, added: “Bardsley Construction has an impressive project portfolio and, importantly for us, a successful record of building large-scale developments in city centre locations. We look forward to getting on site and delivering what will be a landmark scheme in the Northern Quarter.”

The expansion of the city centre is continuing rapidly along the Bradford Road/Oldham Road/Rochdale Canal corridor! The new homes on the Rochdale Canal at Miles Platting are great, as is The Point. Looking forward to see the Manchester Life, YoHo and Phased 3 and 4 of Islington Wharf on Old Mill Street/Bradford Road come forward too.
