Morgan Ashurst wins forensic labs contract

Morgan Ashurst has been selected to build a £7m science facility for the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

The four-storey teaching block will be named the JB Firth Building and will house the schools of forensic and investigative sciences and pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences. There will be four laboratories for up to 160 students as well as two chemistry rooms, one analytical laboratory and a fire laboratory.

The new building will be linked via a walkway to the existing Maudland Building on Maudland Bank, where the science departments are currently based.

Morgan Ashurst is aiming to achieve a BREEAM 'excellent' rating for the scheme. The project is being managed by Gardiner & Theobald and the architect is ADP. The project is scheduled to be completed in November 2010.
