Morecambe’s Broadway Hotel redevelopment to complete in 2018
A 50-home project on the former site of Morecambe’s Broadway Hotel by developer MH Stainton is set to complete by the end of 2018.
The developer is building the project through its residential arm Stainton Bespoke Homes. The scheme will provide 50 one, two, and three-bed apartments over a four-and-eight storey block on the corner of Broadway and Marine Road East.
The seafront site formerly housed The Broadway Hotel, which was demolished in 2014, and the plot has been vacant ever since. The developer acquired the land in 2016 and gained planning approval for the project earlier this year.
Law firm Harrison Drury has been appointed to sell the homes.
Gail Stainton, of Stainton Bespoke Homes said: “This project will give Morecambe seafront a new building of distinction, revitalising this area of town with quality residential apartments. We were keen to acknowledge the history of the site and we did a lot of research into the story behind the Broadway Hotel.
“The hotel opened at the same time the A6 was built through the area and brought more holidaymakers to Morecambe. We hope that by building this development at a time when the Bay Gateway is bringing more visitors and investment to the town we can enjoy a similar success story.”
The professional team on the project includes FPA as architect. Previous plans for the site include a 47-home development which was approved in 2007 but never progressed; and 51 retirement homes, which was submitted in 2014 but again these plans were never brought forward.
