Modus reaches 90% pre-let at revamped Blackpool centre

Retail development specialist Modus has reported its refurbished and extended Houndshill Shopping Centre in Blackpool is 90% let ahead of opening in August.

The developer has announced five new tenants at the 400,000 sq ft centre. The latest deals are to La Senza, for 4,187 sq ft, Costa Coffee, 1,463 sq ft, La Petit Four, 1,377 sq ft, Phones 4U, 497 sq ft and 3G 861 sq ft.

Existing names at the centre include Debenhams, Jane Norman, River Island, Next, New Look and H&M.

Tim Heatley, director of Modus, said: "It's a difficult lettings climate at the moment so we're pleased to be making progress.

"Blackpool has always been a strong town but a great quality retailing environment didn't exist until now. There were some big names missing and Houndshill provides the space for them to establish a new presence."

Savills, Lunson Mitchenall and Keenan & Co are letting agents.
