MIPIM UK unveils conference programme

19 – 21 October 2016, Olympia, London

MIPIM UK has unveiled its extensive 2016 conference programme with life after Brexit and in-depth investment opportunities set to feature heavily.

With over 40 panel sessions scheduled, the 2016 conference will kick off with a keynote address ‘What Brexit really means for UK property,’ before moving on to examine the UK government’s plans for infrastructure and housing, how Brexit has impacted on UK REITs and their investment strategies and what impact Brexit could have on the UK prime office market.

MIPIM UK will see the Investors Forum discussing Britain as an investment target and how the UK’s changing relationship with Europe may impact international investment strategies.

Filippo Rean, director of organiser Reed MIDEM’s real estate division, said: “MIPIM UK is the first UK-centric real estate event since Brexit that will bring together major foreign investors with British real estate leaders, government ministers, international economists and bankers and city administrators.

“The importance of the British real estate sector within the UK economy and at an international level means that MIPIM UK will provide a forum for national and local leaders to explain policy and projects that impact the property market. It will also bring international investors to London to share their thoughts on the market and how they may be adapting investment strategies. Finally, we will hear from leaders of multinational corporations based in the UK as they share their post-Brexit positions, particularly on the question of corporate HQ locations.”

The MIPIM UK conference programme is one of the most all-encompassing available to the British real estate industry. Its wide-ranging topics include the changing relationship between transport, connectivity, homes and land values; what the UK government has planned for urban regeneration and infrastructure; new models for public and private partnerships; emerging sources of real estate financing; how crowdfunding may alter the rules of real estate investment and where and why investors are turning to specialist sectors.

Drilling down into specific sectors, MIPIM UK delegates will have access to industry leaders as they discuss hotel and leisure investment; the changing face of retail and logistics; student housing as an investment class and opportunities in healthcare.

Devolution will feature in the programme on 20 October, with regional leaders coming together to share their views of the future and special focuses on the Northern Powerhouse, the Midlands Engine and London.

Place North West is a media partner of MIPIM UK and will be reporting in full from the conference as well as exhibiting.
