MCR acquires Liverpool’s Haigh Court
Nido Student has sold the freehold of a 158-bed student housing building off South Hunter Street for an undisclosed sum.
Commercial agent Ryden assisted MCR Property Group on the acquisition of the Liverpool property, which boasts four floors.
The student accommodation units range from cluster flats to studio apartments. The ground floor of the property contains a hostel and pub, neither of which are included in the deal.
Commenting on the Haigh Court acquisition, MCR fund manager Nick Lake said: “Liverpool student accommodation continues to perform well in the current economic climate and this purchase is in line with the fund’s strategy to further invest in the city of Liverpool, and in student accommodation generally.
“Haigh Court, Liverpool is a perfect fit for our in-house asset management team and 25 years’ experience in owning and managing student accommodation.”
Haigh Court is the eighth acquisition by MCR this year – including the purchase of Blackworth Industrial Estate in Swindon and Europa House in North Lanarkshire. Earlier this year, ICG Real Estate provided a £100m debt facility to MCR to assist with the developer’s push to grow its portfolio.
It`s on a busy main road and is popular with students , and is in the thick of a cultural area full of classic buildings, from memory might be due some cyclical works, otherwise looks a safe bet.
