McGoff unveils plans for Liverpool care home

A 73-bedroom complex has been proposed on a Childwall site currently occupied by disused parts of a synagogue.

McGoff Group has submitted plans for a 38,000 sq ft care home on the rear section of the site, which comprises a community hall that would be demolished to make way for the residential building.

Meanwhile, separate plans are being worked up by the Childwall Hebrew Congregation for a replacement synagogue fronting Dunbabin Road.

A planning statement prepared by Garner Town Planning states that some of the buildings on the site are surplus to requirements due to the size of the congregation, which has reduced over the years.

A spokesperson from McGoff Group said the development would feature “fully furnished private en suite bedrooms, stylish communal lounges, inviting dining rooms, and extensive garden for residents”.

“With the existing synagogue downsizing to better suit the needs of their congregation, we have worked in partnership with them to utilise the vacant part of the site, with a view to enhancing the local community with exceptional care services,” the spokesperson said.

Once complete, the care home would be operated by New Care, part of McGoff Group.

Street Design Partnership is advising McGoff on the scheme. To learn more, search for application reference number 24F/2084 on Liverpool City Council’s planning portal.

Is this really the best we can offer for older people? Sold so short. Current best practice in supported/extra care living is light years ahead of this scheme.

According to planning documents and Google, you are very much incorrect. Please reconsider your choice of sources.
