McGoff starts on £15m Formby care home
Developer New Care and contractor McGoff Construction have started work on a 76-bed care facility on Liverpool Road, Formby.
The scheme, located on the former Mayflower Industrial Estate, was granted planning permission in January 2017, and has been designed by KDP Architects.
The 43,000 sq ft facility includes en-suite bedrooms and a courtyard for residents, and is due to complete in early 2019. Existing industrial buildings on the site will be demolished to make way for the project, which is estimated to create around 80 jobs.
It will be New Care’s seventh project, having opened two care homes last year in the region: Ashlands in Sale, and The Hamptons in Lytham.
The company, part of the wider McGoff Group, is also planning to complete the £15m Grosvenor Manor care home in Chester this February.
As well as building the care homes through its construction arm, McGoff Group will also operate the facilities through New Care.
Chris McGoff, chief executive of New Care, said: “We are delighted to have started work on site and are very much looking forward to introducing the New Care brand to Formby. The plans for our latest care facility are superb; we will deliver a sophisticated, modern, purpose-built home which offers high quality care with first class hotel-style services.”
