McGoff links up with Southway to progress Old Trafford resi
Fresh plans for an 80-apartment scheme on Warwick Road South are now with the local council for consideration, with the housing association on board to develop the project.
McGoff, in partnership with MC Construction, first lodged plans for the site in May 2021. These initial proposals were for 126 apartments.
Earlier this year, the JV, working with Corstorphine & Wright Architects, scaled back the development, reducing the number of apartments to 102.
This application was withdrawn in November as fresh plans were drawn up.
Now, an application for 80 apartments – 38 with one bedroom and 42 with two bedrooms across four-storey and five-storey elements – has been submitted to Trafford Council.
Subject to planning approval, Southway Housing Trust will take ownership of the site.
The apartments will be available for a mix of shared ownership, rent-to-buy, and affordable rent.
The revised plans also feature changes in order to allay the concerns of the owners of Seymour Grove allotments, located to the rear of the site.
These include reducing the height and footprint of the scheme to limit the overshadowing of the allotments.
Paul Butler Associates is the planning consultant on the development.
