May start for Novo’s Stamford Arms resi
The Altrincham-based developer has secured planning consent for the 18-home scheme in Little Bollington.
Novo Property Group’s scheme involves the conversion of the Stamford Arms pub into nine apartments, and the construction of four houses on the former car park.
The apartments are to be made available for shared ownership, and will be offered to Little Bollington residents first, according to Novo.
In addition, the existing stable block on the site is to be restored and converted into five mews cottages.
After the Stamford Arms pub closed in 2012, Novo bought the Lymm Road site from Enterprise Inns in September 2019 for an undisclosed sum.

It lodged plans for the redevelopment of the site into housing last May. The scheme was designed by Project 3 Architects and Novo is also working with Chester-based landscape architect Land Studio to protect the Green Belt site’s established trees and hedgerows.
Avison Young is the planning consultant and Civic Engineers is the structural engineer for the scheme.
Speaking to Place North West, Novo’s managing director Ben Fearns said planning approval for the project was a “victory for collaboration” and thanked the council, the National Trust, and Little Bollington Parish Council for supporting the development.
“The Stamford Arms is a building of significant local interest, and is located at the gateway to the village,” Fearns said.
“The importance of the building has always been at the forefront of our minds throughout this process, and we can’t wait to get started on returning it to its former glory so Little Bollington can once again be proud of this special building.”
The Little Bollington project is to be constructed by Novo’s in-house contracting team, formed after the collapse of CPUK, which was delivering the developer’s Brown Street scheme in Hale.
Elsewhere, Novo is nearing completion of its Brown Street scheme, a 22-home development, comprising 10 townhouse and 12 shared ownership apartments, on a half-acre site that was previously used as a car park operated by Trafford Council.
