Marketer’s dream
Firstly here is an illustration of the German market in Albert Square which I have used for my Christmas cards this year.
It's a slight departure from my usual style but I wanted to make it less architectural, more jolly – and to be of a popular Manchester scene. It has been hand drawn in pen from photographs, then overlaid with quite bold watercolour, particularly on Santa.
The second image is also of the Manchester Father Christmas, painted on location outside Starbucks in Albert Square on a bitterly cold Sunday a couple of weeks back. As part of a Manchester urban sketching afternoon I did two quick views in a couple of hours – the other view is looking down John Dalton Street, before retiring to the rather smart Albert Square Chop House for a restorative glass of wine. It was some while before I could feel my fingers and toes.
If anyone would like to join us urban sketching after Christmas, I will be putting a programme of events together soon, or if interested in any of my work, please get in touch www.simoneridyard.co.uk
Happy Christmas everyone
