Maple Grove bolsters team with ex-Muse man

James Scott has joined Eric Wright Group’s development arm having spent the last seven years in Muse Developments’ Yorkshire office.

Scott has joined Maple Grove Developments as development director and will work across the North on projects including the 160-acre Lancashire Central project in Cuerden.

Lancashire Central would see the creation of a 2m sq ft mixed-use scheme featuring industrial space, homes and a hotel.

During his time at Muse, Scott was involved in the delivery of Logic, a 1.2m sq ft industrial scheme in Leeds, as well as Merchant Gate in Wakefield, a mixed-use scheme comprising around 40,000 sq ft of offices.

Scott’s former and current employers are partners in a project that could see a 100,000 sq ft leisure scheme created on the former covered markets site in Preston city centre.

Scott’s move to Maple Grove Developments’ takes the headcount of the company’s senior team to six. He will be based out of the firm’s Preston head office.

Karen Hirst, managing director at Maple Grove, said: “We pride ourselves on the long-term partnerships we have developed across the public and private sectors.

“James has extensive experience in delivering major schemes and, in particular, in leading on multi-phased logistics schemes, which will be of great value as we bring forward projects such as Lancashire Central.”

Scott added: “Maple Grove is a highly responsible developer with very similar values to Muse. From a social value perspective, I’ve always admired the authenticity of Eric Wright Group and I look forward to working on the new development projects coming through the pipeline and, leaning on my experience, increasing Maple Grove’s presence in North West and Yorkshire.”
