Manufacturer creates new Wigan HQ

Liverpool-based K2 Architects has been appointed to transform a 73,000 sq ft warehouse in Martland Park, Wigan by owner-occupier, safety equipment manufacturer C-TEC.

The brief is to create a new entrance area with an exhibition space to showcase C-TEC's products, a new head office for over 40 staff and a conference suite with ancillary meeting rooms. C-Tec is currently based in Stephens Way, Wigan.

C-TEC's products include fire alarm and control panels, voice alarm systems, disabled refuge systems, nurse call systems and audio frequency induction loop systems.

Mark Davies, director of K2 Architects, said: "The project is currently on-site for the enabling works and demolition phase, with completion for the whole project scheduled for late 2011."

Karl Kiernan, independent property consultant advising C-TEC, added: "As an industrial area, Wigan has been awaiting a shot in the arm to boost its confidence for inward investment and C-TEC purchasing this sizeable asset will do exactly that. It will also transfer 60 jobs on to the park which will heighten activity on the estate as a whole."
