Mansell to relocate factory to Oldham after four years in Bolton

The off-site construction specialist has signed a 10-year lease on a 45,000 sq ft facility in Chadderton, a site that will allow the firm to better service its growing pipeline of projects.

Based in Horwich since 2021, Mansell Building Solutions has made the decision to up sticks to Oldham Broadway Business Park having seen its workload increase significantly.

The firm has recently been appointed on various frameworks, including Great Places Housing Group’s Innovation Chain North and the Off-Site Home Alliance and has projects across Greater Manchester in Trafford, Wigan, Salford, Stockport, and Manchester.

The new facility, 50% bigger than the one the company is leaving behind, will allow Mansell to up its manufacturing capabilities and play its part in helping the nation meet its 1.5m homes target over the next four years, according to managing director Angela Mansell.

“Our framework appointments and multiple contract awards necessitate a facility that better serves our growing needs.

“We feel a certain synergy with Oldham as it’s a forward-thinking borough under female leadership with a supportive council that openly and actively welcomes business growth, so we’re only too pleased to make it our new home.”

She added: “We’re also remaining strong to our Greater Manchester roots by staying within the region; a place where we’ve proudly delivered quality buildings for more than 30 years.”

Operating across the UK, Mansell is a specialist contractor for panelised construction and modern methods of construction and has worked on a range of residential and commercial schemes across Greater Manchester, including Aviva Studios, five affordable Passivhaus schemes in Salford, and a trio of apartment blocks on a brownfield site by Rochdale Canal in Newton Heath.

Oldham Council Leader Cllr Arooj Shah is pleased to have lured Mansell from Bolton.

“This news is a real boost for the local economy and we welcome the firm and its employees to the borough,” she said.

“[Mansell] has worked on some of the largest developments in the country and is a real pioneer in the construction industry as they are women led, something which is still a rarity in the trade.

She added: “Firms like Mansell Building Solutions are increasingly seeing the borough as a place to invest and as somewhere that is serious and proactive about business.”

I think if that’s why they were leaving Bolton they wouldn’t be going to Oldham.
