Manchester green light for Trade City
Kier Property has secured planning consent for its first trade park development in the city, a 93,000 sq ft nine-unit scheme.
The units will range from 3,800 sq ft to 23,600 sq ft and will be built out on a 4.8-acre site at Elizabeth Street, bought by Kier in partnership with Investec this February.
Savills represented Kier as planning consultant. Colliers and CBRE are joint letting agents on the scheme.
The site sits just a mile north of Manchester city centre, close to the Cheetham Retail Park and Manchester Fort Shopping Park.
Work is scheduled to start on site in September with the target of BREEAM Excellent and an EPC A rating.
Kier Property’s managing director Leigh Thomas said: “Securing planning for our first Trade City development in Manchester is fantastic news.
“Our scheme will offer local businesses the opportunity to grow and expand, creating new job opportunities in the area and deliver an important step forward from an environmental sustainability perspective.”
The site has direct access to the city centre via the A665 Cheetham Hill Road. It also provides access to the Manchester & Salford Inner Ring Road and the national motorway networks, being close to Junction 3 of the M602 and Junction 17 of the M60.
This is Kier Property’s 55th industrial scheme in the UK. The firm recently acquired a site in Knowsley and also has a Trade City development at Artis Park, Winsford.
Direct access to city centre …are you kidding.
