LOOKFANTASTIC to open at Stamford Quarter

The THG-owned online beauty store will bring its virtual shopping experience into the real world, taking over the former JD Sports unit at the Altrincham retail centre.

LOOKFANTASTIC has signed a long-term lease for 5,400 sq ft with Stamford Quarter joint owners Bruntwood and Trafford Council. The beauty retailer’s store will be at 21-23 George Street and is expected to open in September.

When it does open its doors, customers will be able to browse make-up, skincare, fragrance, and hair products from brands such as Sol de Janeiro, Color WOW, and Yves Saint Laurent in what a press release describes as an “experiential retail experience”.

THG Beauty chief executive Lucy Gorman described the future store as an “innovative retail space” that “goes beyond products, offering a unique and immersive beauty destination”.

She continued: “It perfectly complements our omnichannel strategy, bridging the gap between our established online community and the success of our pop-up events.

“Customers can discover and purchase from their favourite brands, and also enjoy beauty services, bringing digital beauty into the third dimension for our loyal, local customer base in a whole new way.”

James Tootle, head of retail and leisure at Bruntwood, welcomed the LOOKFANTASTIC addition to Stamford Quarter.

“We’re thrilled that LOOKFANTASTIC has chosen the Stamford Quarter as the location to open their new store,” he said. “It’s great to see brands like this invest in our vision for the town centre and choose our neighbourhood as the launch base for national retail concepts.

Tootle continued: “2024 has been a transformative year for this area of Altrincham thanks to the opening of Foundation, and LOOKFANTASTIC’s arrival will further cement the Stamford Quarter as one of the leading retail destinations within Greater Manchester and beyond.”

A Trafford Council spokesperson said that the signing on of LOOKFANTASTIC was “a real testament to the power of regeneration projects”.

They added: “This demonstrates the attractive nature of the area for global brands, which is great news for residents – beauty fanatics or not! Altrincham town centre continues to establish itself as a destination for people across the region and beyond, and this addition to the Stamford Quarter, joining other big-name brands, will only serve to increase footfall and boost the local economy for residents and businesses alike.”

Metis and Barker Proudlove represented Bruntwood and Trafford Council on the deal, with Paul Nichols & Co acting for LOOKFANTASTIC.

In coming to Stamford Quarter, LOOKFANTASTIC will become neighbours with the 75,000 sq ft office and retail complex Foundation, Flannels, Waterstones, and H&M.
