Cheshire quarry plan heads upstairs

Cheshire West and Chester's planning committee voted for a second time to refuse developer New Care’s application for a 69-bedroom extra-care scheme on Chester Road in Hartford, despite officers' recommendation to approve it. 

The housebuilder’s proposal to build 115 homes on part of the school's estate on Cumberland Street in Macclesfield have been recommended for approval by Cheshire East Council after the decision was deferred in January. 

The county is well placed to bounce back from the economic hit of the pandemic, but the speed at which the private and public sectors can respond to changing trends will be key to Cheshire's recovery, according to panellists at a Place North West event.

A consortium, comprising specialist investor Green Investment Group and waste management companies Covanta and Biffa, is building the facility at the Ellesmere Port energy hub in Cheshire.

The 23-acre site on the edge of Congleton Business Park in Cheshire, earmarked for industrial development, has been put up for sale by its owner, through land promoter Richborough Estates.

A multidisciplinary team comprising Cushman & Wakefield, Mott Macdonald and Optimised Environments is working to produce regeneration proposals for nine key centres across the borough, including Wilmslow, Middlewich and Knutsford.

AM Bell’s plans to build small-scale industrial units at its Hawkshead Quarry site in Sutton look doomed to fail, with planning officers suggesting that the plans don’t fit with Cheshire East’s Local Plan.

The housebuilder is requesting approval from Cheshire West & Chester Council to build the next 313 homes in its scheme near Ellesmere Port, having won consent for phases comprising 528 homes earlier this year.
