Bury College plots £8.6m health campus 

The council wants to safeguard the 11-acre site after a failed attempt by rugby union side Sale Sharks to build a new stadium on the playing fields.

A draft 20-year plan to guide transport and connectivity improvements to and around the city centre and encourage 90% of trips be made by foot, bike or public transport, is tipped for approval today.

Peel L&P’s housebuilding division wants to build 108 homes on a 10-acre site off St Helens Road south-west of Bolton. 

The Manchester-based developer wants to redevelop the town’s market precinct into a mixed-use scheme featuring 220 homes and 34,000 sq ft of commercial space. 

The housing association has agreed terms with the city council to acquire a vacant site on St Simon Street in Lower Broughton and redevelop it into a 42-apartment supported living scheme.

Members of the council’s planning committee were underwhelmed by the 86-home scheme but the project was granted consent after their motion to refuse the plans was defeated. 

Councillors praised Create Developments for the changes it made to a previously refused scheme and voted unanimously to approve the company’s plans for a 147-bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel off Barton Road in Stretford. 

The first planning application has been submitted for Trafford Council and Bruntwood Works’ 27-acre regeneration roadmap, proposing 800 homes, a revamp of Stretford Mall, and other town centre improvements.

Having exchanged contracts to buy the former manufacturing facility as part of administration proceedings, the developer wants to refurbish the 11-acre Atlantic Street site to plug a hole in the local economy.
