Approval for £20m Widnes leisure centre 

A £1.4m redesign and refurbishment of the town centre market is to commence on Monday, to create a modern dining and events space.

The contractor has handed over the £7.7m St Helens Community Fire Station, its fourth project for Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service.

The company has been awarded an additional £9m contract to complete a residential development in Runcorn for housing associations Magenta Living and Onward Homes, after the collapse of the previous contractor. 

Developer Onward Homes will pay the North Wales contractor £5.5m to complete a 48-home scheme at Halton Court after the project stalled when its previous contractor Cruden Construction collapsed in July. 

The developer has completed the third and final phase of its business park in Bromborough comprising three industrial units totalling 114,000 sq ft, and agreed a deal to let the remaining 30,000 sq ft of the complex. 

The care home developer has terminated the pre-construction agreement it signed with the ailing contractor and begun the search for another company to build the scheme, as Cheshire-based Cruden braces itself for administration. 

Anwyl Partnerships, part of North Wales-based housebuilder Anwyl Group, has completed a £3.4m extra care scheme in Pensby, Wirral, and handed it over to operator Magenda Living.

Sci-Tech Daresbury has confirmed the appointment of the contractor to deliver the £15m three-building development, which will offer a total of 42,000 sq ft for science and technology-focused businesses.
