Local delegations head off to MIPIM UK

Councils and economic development agencies representing different parts of the region will be heading down to London this week to promote investment opportunities during the annual MIPIM UK property convention due to be held at the Olympia convention centre.

Delegations led by marketing bureaus, LEPs and local authorities for Salford, Lancashire, Liverpool and Manchester city regions are all due to attend.

Salford City Council will promote emerging neighbourhoods in the city centre around the River Irwell corridor at Chapel Street, Greengate, Middlewood Locks, Wilburn Basin, and New Bailey.

Cheshire and Warrington’s delegation is promoting the development prospects at the Science Corridor Enterprise Zone business parks and the opportunities that HS2 will bring Crewe, along with the Northern Gateway Development Zone around Crewe and Stoke, the resurgence of Chester, particularly Northgate, and the ongoing economic success of Warrington.

Liverpool Vision and partners including Peel and Deloitte are promoting Liverpool Waters and Knowledge Quarter Liverpool among other specific schemes.

Knowsley will be exhibiting for the third year running, with representatives from the Knowsley Place Board present alongside the council leader and chief executive, and 25 private sector delegates from companies including Bericote Properties, DB Symmetry, Network Space and Peel Ports.

Lancashire’s pitch is a new integrated approach to marketing the county’s four Enterprise Zones as one “dynamic, world-class and overarching investment destination”, under the name Lancashire Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Cluster”. The cluster includes Samlesbury, Warton, Blackpool Airport and Hillhouse, covering advanced manufacturing, energy and engineering sectors.

Marketing Manchester is pushing the Northern Powerhouse agenda, working with Liverpool and Leeds among others on joint activity. Manchester and Liverpool are again taking a joint stand. There will be stand events around residential development, the pipeline for the next decade, and “Devolution Revolution, a debate on the “challenges and opportunities in post-Brexit Regional UK.”

MIPIM UK at London Olympia is due to take place from Wednesday 19 October to Friday 21 October. Around 5,000 delegates from all asset classes are expected to attend.

Place North West is a media partner of MIPIM UK and will be exhibiting to showcase our work informing and bringing property professionals together.
