Livv completes £35m Prescot affordable development

Phase two of the Watchfactory in the Knowsley town provides 191 homes.

Work has completed on Livv Housing Group’s £35m affordable housing project, which provides 80 two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses, eight one- and two-bedroom bungalows, and 103 one- and two-bedroom apartments spread across three blocks.

The development wraps around the original grade two-listed watch factory building in Prescot, which Livv redeveloped into and extra care facility as part of phase one in 2018.

The scheme was built by Vistry Partnerships and supported by a £9.3m Homes England grant.

Tenures available at the development include affordable rent, shared ownership, and rent to buy. There are also extra care apartments available.

Yvonne Westhead-Fyles, director of development at Livv Housing Group, said: “The Watchfactory phase two is our largest project to date, and we’re so proud to see it come to fruition.

“Prescot is undergoing an exciting transformation, and our new development plays a key role in that regeneration, helping to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the area. With most of the homes now occupied, it’s rewarding to see a vibrant neighbourhood taking shape.”

Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, added: “Developments like this are absolutely crucial for our region’s future. Not only are they helping to regenerate areas like Prescot, they’re also providing much-needed, high-quality affordable housing for local people.

“By delivering a mix of homes for affordable rent, shared ownership, and rent to buy, this scheme is ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to find a place they can call home.”

A good looking scheme and as stated a good re-use of an old industrial building, unlike a similar project at the Johnson`s the Cleaners ex site in Bootle which has sadly been demolished to make way for a modern block plus houses, another piece of history gone which could easily have been converted.

When are new schools, doctors surgeries and other facilities to accommodate the residents coming to Prescot

There not affordable, I applied for rent to buy, but it cost me more than what I pay to rent my house at the moment so couldn’t afford one

Shame they haven’t bothered to finish the pavements that they dug up. Whole of Oliver Lyme Road pavement needs fixing. It’s a disgrace.

It’s just a pity livv are not advertising availability to local residents who are desperate for accommodation

@ Charles, if you were local, and desperate, then surely you would make it your business to know these properties were available.

“When are new schools, doctors surgeries and other facilities to accommodate the residents coming to Prescot”

Prescot has a whole suite of new schools (that aren’t full), new GP/medical centres, new hospital, new retail parks, new green spaces, revamped railway station, new trains (when they actually run), new theatre. What more do you want?
