Liberty Properties plans Aldi schemes

Liberty Properties has submitted applications for two Aldi-led developments totalling 52,500 sq ft in Denbighshire and Cheshire East, advised by the Manchester planning team at JLL.

The proposals, which have been submitted to Denbighshire County Council and Cheshire East Council cover retail development projects at the Station Yard site in Denbigh, which has been vacant for 10 years, and Manor Business Park in Holmes Chapel respectively.

Both schemes will be anchored by Aldi, with the retailer to occupy a 19,364 sq ft unit in Denbigh and 19,418 sq ft in Holmes Chapel.

If approved, construction on both sites will begin in early 2016.

The planning team at JLL advised on both schemes. The architect for the Denbigh scheme was Leach Rhodes Walker, while the Holmes Chapel scheme was designed by The Harris Partnership.

Mason Partners and Wild Commercial Property are Liberty Properties’ agents.

Emyr Williams, development director at Liberty Properties, said: “The developments will drive inward investment and job opportunities in Denbigh and Holmes Chapel. In addition, with the end result offering greater shopping convenience to the towns we’ve already received a positive response to the proposals from the communities.”

Joanna Gabrilatsou, planning and development director at JLL in Manchester, said: “These schemes will help regenerate previously underused sites in both of these areas and vastly improve the towns’ retail choices, something which both of these communities have called out for.”
