Legat Owen pair leave to set up own practice

Retail and leisure agents Llyr Emanuel and Dan Oliver have set up a niche property consultancy in Liverpool – Legat Owen is based in Chester – and already have several shopping centres on their books.

Emanuel Oliver will provide advice to institutional investors, property companies, private landlords and retail and leisure operators throughout the UK.

The company has launched with nine shopping centre and retail park instructions in place across the North West and Wales and is retained by operators Costa, Heron and Mococo to acquire space.

Llyr Emanuel said: "As the market improves and changes, we decided now was the right time to create a niche agency. We also felt that Liverpool was the perfect location for us to service our client base.

"We've amassed fantastic experience and contacts in retail and leisure over the years and we're pleased to be able to continue to provide our clients with a first class service."

Dan Oliver added: "Recent changes in the retail and leisure agency world have shown that there is definitely room for more hands-on support for retailers, leisure operators, shopping centre owners, investors and landlords and we're keen to stake our place in the field as a leading player nationally in the North West.

"It's an exciting time for the market as retailers in particular wrestle with their presence from high street and shopping centres to online. Being at the cutting edge of market advances, we're ideally placed to provide all retail and leisure property players with first class advice across the board."

The company is dealing with high street instructions for Royal London, CBRE Global Investors and Co-operative Group in addition to representing Yorkshire Building Society and Specsavers on numerous matters.

Llyr Emanuel was head of retail and a director of Legat Owen for 11 years and previously worked at Kenneymoore and Chestertons.

Dan Oliver was associate director of retail and leisure at Legal Owen for nine years and previously worked in retail agency for Cushman & Wakefield's northern agency team in London and was at Hitchcock Wright & Partners and Oxfam in the early part of his career.
